Bonus Episode: We reflect on a rainy Goodwood Revival 2024.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_01]: As always. Oh yeah, what we pride ourselves on.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's been a while, isn't it? I think since we feel like it. Yeah, we've been sort of a victim of our own efficiency.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was, we got ahead of ourselves and I've still got, I think, four to do really beyond what I'm editing pools at the moment is Dad had the BX.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's almost done. That will be Episode 1 of Season 5. Right.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And then yeah, there's like another four or something. So what my thoughts are, this will be kind of a bonus episode may even put out Tuesday.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay. I guess a bit of a season wrap up.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Also a recap from our weekend and six at Goodwood. Goodwood.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. So, yeah, what do you want to start with?

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't mind, man. We could start with Goodwood if you want.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but enough, I just finished up my last job a bit quicker than anticipated.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_03]: So I, um, I thought I've got to do it and the car from Goodwood revival at the weekend.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Those of you that didn't go with the car part was a bit of a much fest to say the least.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So I went there on Saturday with the wife and I think it rained all the day when you were there on Friday.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and it was kind of sherry on Saturday but not too bad.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_03]: So we got into the car park all right, but you can see people are already struggling.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_03]: A couple of old rain drivers sort of rescuing stranded.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_03]: That is just there and even the rain drivers was sort of, you know, full power or you just civil four wheel spinning.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Not really getting anywhere. But at the time we left, yeah, it was really quite sort of quite bad.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, the car is wearing it's got his mud badges, should we say?

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, the land drive tradition.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think we're probably the only Picasso in the car park, I'd imagine.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm sure someone would have done a spotted on it.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, that's probably out there somewhere.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some sort of in a parallel universe.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, always a ground.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a podcast which is, they get a heart under the color about Carl's name after.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's got to be a van, draw for out there, some reason.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: There, a van.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So he caught one wing mirror, gap in the market there.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: One wing mirror, yeah.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, he did the Salvador Dali.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Got a droopy clock on the dash.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, what did you make of it? Was your first time there?

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Best time here and they're really good.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't know why. I've never really sort of been inclined to sort of investigate it before.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't festival a speed of any before.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I've done festival a speed, yeah.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is okay. And then I'll surprise at how much there was to do to be honest at the revival.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I might get it every year, it probably expands and there's more and more for our lives.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So sort of bits and pieces there, isn't there?

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but that was really good.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And the races are all really entertaining.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I would only recommend it.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And what did Mrs. John make of it? Make of the action?

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_03]: So we arrived in the first race that was on on the Saturday with the motorbike race.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Which was extremely loud.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_03]: She doesn't deal with noise too well.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But after that, she actually really enjoyed the car racing.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Particularly there, get what the race was called now.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was the one where you've got a variety of vehicles from sort of minis.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, up to the merry, do I think perhaps?

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that means a bell.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Up to like the big massive American thought gorecies.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the old gorecies, not the new.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Seven Caters.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's sort of a test of the drive isn't it?

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess because each vehicle has got its own plus points which kind of levels itself out and away.

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't even, when it comes to put them on the track.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, not quite level but it makes it more even.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so real sort of talk is in their hair.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess you probably don't get that these days with the sort of regulations and formalities.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But if one cars are all sort of plus or minus, like a few tenths of a second a lap.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And like British touring cars, they've all got to be certain things.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But actually you kind of go back 40, 50 years as long as it was.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It was on the set.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It seems that it was sort of fair game that you could race it.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I suppose the telltale signs is when it's getting to the bottom of the straight and you see all the sort of big cars having to break.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Why before the minis don't you?

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And they just go round and they, yeah, they just sit round.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: See you in a bit.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: But now we had a good spot. We were pretty much on the start line.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Man, it's just scores some nice tickets by a work colleague of the wife so that's way much to them for a very nice day out.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, keep them sweet.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a cheap gig as it's had me but there's a little bit of a treat. It's quite nice.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_03]: That was the Friday. Obviously it's very rainy but it was rainy.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sadly you had kind of childcare issues.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I hope for both children and now back to full fighting strength.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And well they're in school for now here.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, on that I was obviously meant to go with you on the Friday.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_03]: My youngest sort of contracted near infection on the eve of the day.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'd stay home with her unfortunately.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, so I went along with my brother and his little boy.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, friend of his actually who he stepped in at the kind of the 11th and a half hour in your place.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: He had a lovely time.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, we had a good time.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Very glad we took umbrellas.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: That was all right, actually for most of the day sort of in between Jacket and just that I had a raincoat with me.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But it was only when you got a little bit cooler later on.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a bit of a headspin ever because it wasn't cold.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Was it not particularly, no, you didn't want to wear anything too heavy and then end up swelled through even though you're not getting wet.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last year it was heatwave.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: They kind of they waved the rules for shorts and having to wear a jacket and tie in the pit lane and stuff.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It was that hot.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They were kind of what I read about people passing out this year.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it seemed to be a lot more kind of rigorous.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were out in force checking passes to get into places.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did manage to creep my way into the pits and the members kind of parking area for a bit of a peruse.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just some confidence strolling.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you?

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just claim innocence if you get caught.

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, wow, wow, those.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then I was got, so I should have just made some little sort of hexagonal pieces out of some cardboard cereal box or something blue Peter them together.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I do have a sort of whiff of fobby craft about those.

[00:07:46] Yeah.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Those badges.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's probably the thing for next year.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Create full stickets and end up with outpouring.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably not that expensive, but yeah, there may be a run of hexagonal hip passes.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And then a little trade going on.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I did see some tickets out on the way in.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_03]: You did.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It was sold out.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I guess if people were in a similar boat to us really where someone couldn't go for whatever reason then I don't know where the people would have turned up on the off chance that there was going to be someone flogging a ticket on the gate.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know. I mean, people used to do it for the horse racing at good route.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Are really?

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's quite a kind of thing.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Not that I was involved, but no.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, used to see it quite a lot of use to go on.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_03]: My mates at ticket counts can still exist in 2024 to be honest.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I think good would try to to limit it.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to buy them through Twizzle or whatever if you want to sell them on all the way.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is a very as Facebook groups with people kind of selling them privately between each other.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure it's a big 12 months for the ticket to help guys isn't it with the the reunion.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, absolutely.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but is it even going to happen?

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They could have fallen out and killed each other by then.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be good to find what shouldn't matter what those next 12 months I think.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm holding out for the DVD to be honest.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, great.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: People who spent eight hours on the phone trying to get a ticket and then they were still position

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: 4,623 in the queue or something.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I like a way to spot.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not that much.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I actually can't think of anything too much worse than having to go to Wembley and then sit or stand in a

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_03]: man.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I can't do that in very many more.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just I don't feel a bit of an ice is gig, but I was lucky enough to do it at the first

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: time around.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I really towards the end.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think if you sit at the Liam gigs now, you know, when cigarettes now

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: while comes on all the drink and whatever else is liquid in bottles gets tossed up.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Hike in the air in the air.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, which isn't for me to be honest.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Probably a bit funny, Dali, but I'll probably do with that.

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I kind of constant stuff.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: If I can book seated, I'll book seated like 100%.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I remember when I was younger, going to a gig through a friend of a friend and the tickets that we had

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: were all seated, so I thought that was great.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_03]: But the guy who was sort of organised and got all the drivers there, he really wanted to stand.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So ended up taking all our tickets and just swapping them for standing tickets with some random

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: people that wanted seats.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So ended up with that sort of an interesting stand.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I just thought, yeah.

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a nuisance isn't it?

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: You could sort of push your way to the front and then by the time you got to the front, you've run out of drink or you need to

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: toilet.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you then queue for an hour for a beer or something probably.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you spend the rest of the time trying to get back to your mates at the front.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that can do our saw room when they open the AMICs.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was when they opened the AMICs.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Fat boy slimmed its some gigs there.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw Fat boy slimmed the AMICs and that that was, you could sit down.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I had kind of all the seats open, but that was kind of a standing affair.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But that wasn't it was fairly grown up kind of unsensible to be fair.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a weird thing isn't it?

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_03]: This is so a, this is obviously the mix of ages is so vast.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I went to a no gig, not long ago.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's like about that and that was the same thing there.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_03]: You've obviously got the guys from the first time round at a kind of 50 plus or whatever.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And you got their kids.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess yeah, potentially you could have been into a racist in your 40s.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: In the early 90s or whatever that when they came out exactly.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And kind of our age now like, yeah, a racist comes out.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: They're actually quite like this that tap along.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So on the playlist on Radio 2.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It's quite unusual for an artist to basically manage to tickle the age boxes.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I think with the, um, we're massively off talking with the dawn on the age of the internet.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And Spotify and all the rest like it's so much easier for our children and kind of our younger siblings or whatever to get into other artists.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Because yeah, you can just ask a lecture to play whatever or we've not got to go rummaging around for a CD or a record.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: You can just kind of put it on the drop of a hat and my fun is it exactly.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: In my day.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Good old days.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah back to yeah back to good wood.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was good fun.

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It was caught up with Tim who I think was in either season one season two.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He had a really good weekend.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He was racing in Austin, he Lee.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_01]: So on the Friday, he got pub position by a second in the rain.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Some incredible videos of him driving around the track kind of weaving in an amongst people.

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And then on the Saturday when you were there, he was racing.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And he finished. He was first on the track, but there was a red flag and they did a count back to kind of the previous lap.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So unfortunately he was picked up to the post. He came second but it's a great race.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably one of the highlight races for the weekend.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'm incredible racing between the two of them.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was racing a Jagax K150, which was up on power, but waited a little bit more.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, he was obviously kind of winning in the corners and the Jag had him on the straight.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it was fantastic to watch.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was a great head to head, wasn't it that one.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_03]: That's funny because what I'm, I'd a program and I saw, I was basically looking for Tim.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And then I saw he was racing, I kind of said, oh, I know what I've been counting on.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And then sort throughout the race, the people I was with were kind of referring to him as my mate.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I was flying into him once, he's very nice. I can't really.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, like you said the finish, we basically watched most of the race outside and then there was quite a heavy downpour.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So we ended up coming in and then I think in the midst of sort of getting seated because we're having lunch.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: We've sort of missed what happened.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was some sort of smash up though, all of a sudden, I think there was a car with, we can, I think, dropped some oil.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Right. And yeah, within the space of 30 seconds, yeah, 30 seconds.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It was sort of like a pinball of classic cars, sort of going off hitting the barriers in the grass and all that.

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, some yellow flags kind of swiftly followed by reds.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that sadly sort of put it, I think that was about four minutes left to the race right.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And it seemed that the jagged got kind of, he was, he'd lost a little bit of power.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim was put in a way. So yeah, I think he was on for the win, but yeah, it wasn't to be there.

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I did go where we went round to the paddock. I was to no control on the find him and have a word with him.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, his car wasn't there. I think it's probably, I don't know, I did the inspection don't know if you have a podium or something so.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know whether you saw the internet, there was a video put out by the, the Earl of March or Duke of Richmond or,

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: there was a fish with touch, Duke of Richmond, I think all about cheating.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Right. And it's yeah, quite interesting actually talking about obviously the racing and the fact they're kind of preserving historic motorsport,

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think there's been cases in the past where people are taking it too far. They've kind of done things which potentially they shouldn't have done to get an unfair advantage.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That good would.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I had a conversation with the chat who organized our tickets, my wife's colleague at work and he basically said,

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: there's so streets on it now because you're like saying the past, I think some of the mechanics of some of the vehicles have used maybe like a more modern thing and yeah,

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_03]: it's basically insane as an advantage. Yeah, so I guess this first fair isn't it is historic racing. So it's a fun event isn't it?

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It's, yeah, but when you could then kind of consider the values of these vehicles and also the code us that winning at Goodwood would bring potentially to the,

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah, if you've got a race winner on your hands and especially if you've got a car that's worth half a million pounds,

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: it's probably had another 50 grand to it.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100 grand to it because it's one at Goodwood. Exactly.

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_03]: With Nigel Mansell racing it or whatever it was, like yeah, so it was a signed photo of Nigel at the wheel. Exactly.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, the guys, I think Tim races on someone's behalf, I think they've got a bit of a collection. He races kind of various cars,

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: but yeah, obviously for them and the value of their collection. If he kind of had a good weekend then that's all going to help for them.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Must be nice knowing you've got someone like Tim behind the wheel who is obviously a good racer and it's not just going to.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying that any of the people that we're driving aren't good racers, but I guess when you've got some that's really experienced,

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_03]: goes a long way, doesn't it? It helps us sort of. But a bit piece of mind I suppose if you've given him half a million quits worth to sit around on a wet day at Goodwood.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't, I don't know the heady he had was worth that far.

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah, they may have the money to have the toys but perhaps haven't got the racing pedigree which is obviously when they do like the program like two driver races and they kind of swap.

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But you know it's a bit obviously, they'll pop around at the back for a bit and then yeah, some hero driver gets in and leaps forwards.

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did see lots of them in the paddock couple of frang Quities in there and all the rest.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not nice by for them to make it a family affair, I suppose.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, as a huge field of them competing.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: That's probably like the race or I saw the most photographers who literally crowding around like crazy just to get a shot at the finish night.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Another highlight for me was the cigar man at the end.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And apparently he's been doing that for forever, basically having the cigars at his very old.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he must be a bit of an IITs.

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I watched a lot of the Saturday Sunday coverage online.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But there'd be kind of an interview with someone and then all of a sudden sort of a cigar would just wuff its way into shot on the sort of kind of whole, like some sort of a text and all barris.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's quite funny actually that they can get away with that isn't it really like in this this day and age.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Petron flammable things all around here.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not that they're lighting the cigarette or the cigars but I guess they are still classified in the same sense to back out.

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Someone passed them a packet of mulberry.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You'd never get away with that.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: No, even in that type of environment, even if it's not.

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I did make a suggestion at a time actually to my wife where they're going to hand some sort of chocolate cigarettes out to the children that finished.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you remember those?

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, that's funny isn't it like yeah, you know what it was like.

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But this candy cane type of things yeah, with the same sort of mindset they would because if it's okay for them to be passing a cigar to winning drivers then it seems that I can think of some circles cigars are kind of still considered to be an acceptable past time I guess.

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no you mean and yeah, I know kind of a fair few people sort of into that kind of thing.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they're Instagram or kind of pop up on those.

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Then you wouldn't necessarily kind of have them down as one for a oily rag but a lot of the other.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's sort of some massive cube and whatever.

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I think yeah, it's still sort of class as like a tonight like a celebrate luxury to have isn't it?

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Kind of like whatever class of champagne.

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember cigar with it at the same time.

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That sort of hmm where is the kind of the humble cigarette has been vilified.

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm yeah, I think that's why my dad moved on to cigars after cigarettes after some heart issues in the first time around.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the kind of he wasn't having that once a cigar a day though, it's considerably more so.

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I think from a technical point of view, I think the way you either inhale or smoke it or whenever it's different isn't it?

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Like kind of outside the sort of the front of the circuit they built like a was a bit like the world west, wouldn't it?

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sort of built a saloon type thing.

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and some sort of temporary buildings and there's various sort of pop-up pubs, which look almost sort of passing glass look like they've always been there.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought the else caught thing was great, wasn't it?

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that building is always there.

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it? Yeah. And they've done various things there when they do an event called The Members meeting it and that's turned into like a bank-wit hole.

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Members meetings good. That goes up to, I think, cars up to 86 or something or early 80 something like that.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's good fun.

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This not address up thing but yeah, again some really good stuff there.

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I think I said before there's definitely a gap in the market for some sort of 80 slash 90s dress up weekend.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I think a bit more entry level or day to start with perhaps.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: There was an event last weekend chat and dockyard called Radwood, which they've done a few times and that's kind of in that bulk that it's basically 80s 90s.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: People do dress up in shell suits and kind of take those sort of cars there and

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll pull harding who we had on.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He went actually, he's got a 9 9 3 that he took along and I'll pull Carolyn just quite a lot of stuff with how to see.

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he was there as well.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's definitely one kind of to be on the radar.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it would probably be quite well placed there if we could get along to that.

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they move it around so we'll see where they end up going.

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the 9 4 4 were qualified to be fair so we could we's along in that one day if we can make the dates work.

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Some of the bikes actually I couldn't get over how obviously they're I think they're border in

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_03]: 1000 C C some of them but they were just so loud as incredible.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You see the guy is a guy called Davy Todd who's one the other man TT a couple of times this year.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: He was on a 1928 or 29 BMW but with a handship.

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a pink helmet and if you've not seen him kind of watching that he's just really impressive.

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Because yeah, he's got three speeds.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got a fixed rear suspension so there's only suspension at the back is on the seat on the saddle.

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Geez.

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And is that yeah, handship.

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So literally he's on throttle all the time.

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Cross his left hand over over the tank to the right to do the gishift.

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This is 100 year old bike pretty much and he's doing some serious speeds.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: He's at the fastest lap in the race.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He's in the damp as well.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I think it qualified down the back of the pack and I think it was a two-part race.

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So he was racing with someone else and the guy he was with wasn't nearly as fast as he was on it.

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, he was I think he finished second or third like aggregate overall.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Really? Yeah.

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I think as someone that doesn't go to a lot of lighter racing, I never really have when you actually because obviously majority of it you're seeing on TV.

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_03]: When you're actually there and then they kind of get on the grid wherever you're watching bikes or cars.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And they fire up like the noise is just you can't beat it can you really,

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and the smells and stuff and the vibrations when there's sort of 25 bikes, you know, all sitting off.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Especially if that age which was kind of pre, I guess silences, catholic converters and all the rest.

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's thunderous. You kind of hear them coming down and it's like someone's let's em elephants loose or something.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_03]: The ground shakes and all the rest. Yeah, I saw that clip recently of Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari sort of early 2000s on a test track somewhere.

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And you kind of there's a guy on the pit wall and then you can just sort of faintly hear an engine coming in the distance and then obviously it rolls past and probably like V10 days.

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_03]: But it's just that was when I was into forming a one-up totally sort of not into it now.

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I just think the engine note is probably the main reason why I'm not into it. It's just yeah, I can't sort of enjoy it as much.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure it's still great racing. In fact, I know it is from what people say on me but I don't know,

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: just doesn't grab me like the old style used to. Yeah, if everyone I think still still interesting probably for different reasons,

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: but kind of the way it plays out and this year is kind of an interesting championship as well. So yeah good stuff cool. Okay, I might roll the credits.
