[00:00:00] Welcome to My Dads Car, enjoy!

[00:00:12] Welcome to My Dads Car, a podcast discussing our personal relationship with automotive nostalgia.

[00:00:18] And you know what? It doesn't even have to be about your dad's car. It can be your mum's, your grand's, your parents, guardians or even a neighbour's.

[00:00:26] If it made an impression, let's talk about it.

[00:00:34] Ahoy! Good day to you. Sorry for my lateness.

[00:00:37] That's alright. How are you doing?

[00:00:39] Alright?

[00:00:39] Yeah, not too bad. Just debating whether or not a jumper's a bit keen in this weather.

[00:00:43] It's blowing a gale here, but it's not cold. It's pretty warm.

[00:00:49] Yeah, I've got the windows closed for kind of maximum sound deadeningness.

[00:00:53] Ah okay, I should chuck mine as well, shouldn't I really?

[00:00:55] Yeah, but you live on the quietest road in the world, don't you?

[00:00:58] Oh, I don't know about that. It's next to the A2 pretty much.

[00:01:02] No, not quite next to it. Just in case any would-be burglars are listening.

[00:01:06] Yeah.

[00:01:07] Yeah.

[00:01:08] Um, John, not long till we're going to the NEC now.

[00:01:10] Not long. November, isn't it?

[00:01:12] Which, yeah, should be good fun.

[00:01:13] Yeah, the nights are drawing in.

[00:01:15] So, uh, it's something to look forward to in a time that I don't particularly enjoy when

[00:01:19] it starts getting wintry, personally.

[00:01:21] I know a lot of people do like throwing on the woolly jumpers and, uh, sort of gearing up

[00:01:26] for Christmas or that sort of thing, but I'm more of a summer person, personally.

[00:01:30] Indeed.

[00:01:30] Yeah, hopefully be dry at least.

[00:01:32] Mm.

[00:01:33] And, uh, the show's indoors, so that's kind of good.

[00:01:36] And yeah, I guess the other thing is we'll need to work out who we're going to talk to

[00:01:40] while we have our spots there.

[00:01:41] Yeah.

[00:01:42] I've got a couple of people in mind who might be up for doing it, so, uh.

[00:01:44] Okay, cool.

[00:01:46] Yeah, they did float the idea that we might get some special guests, but we will see.

[00:01:50] Well, no doubt in the lead out we can put some posts out, can't we?

[00:01:54] Sort of dangling the bait for anyone that would like to, uh, come and have a natter with us.

[00:01:59] Yeah.

[00:01:59] They've not got to be famous.

[00:02:01] No.

[00:02:01] Just, yeah, game for a chat.

[00:02:03] Yeah.

[00:02:03] Yeah.

[00:02:04] Cool.

[00:02:04] Yeah, it should be good.

[00:02:05] Looking forward to it, aren't we?

[00:02:06] Um, be good to sort of rub shoulders with some people that do a similar thing to us,

[00:02:11] maybe at a different level.

[00:02:12] Indeed.

[00:02:13] Yeah.

[00:02:13] And, um, yeah, get a few more people on board with what we get up to.

[00:02:16] Absolutely.

[00:02:17] Yeah.

[00:02:18] So, um, yeah, if you're looking for a day out, a weekend out, um, that's the one.

[00:02:22] Yeah.

[00:02:23] We need to come up with some sort of competition.

[00:02:24] We've got a pair of tickets to give away for any of the days at the NEC, but obviously

[00:02:29] we would, uh, suggest that people come on the Saturday or the Sunday because then they've

[00:02:32] got a chance of, uh, seeing us at our finest.

[00:02:35] Exactly.

[00:02:36] Any ideas on what we get people to do?

[00:02:38] Um, it could be a simple, just sort of like, share this post or one of those sort of

[00:02:43] things.

[00:02:43] Yeah.

[00:02:44] On social.

[00:02:45] I suppose that's usually the easiest, isn't it?

[00:02:47] I'm just trying to think if there's any sort of way we can incorporate dad's car type

[00:02:52] thing, but.

[00:02:52] I guess, yeah, they could comment with the earliest car you remember or something like

[00:02:56] that, I suppose.

[00:02:57] And then we just pick one of those at random.

[00:02:59] Yeah.

[00:03:00] Maybe earliest memory and earliest card, I know, but it's got to be short, I suppose.

[00:03:04] I don't want to get floods of traction, is it?

[00:03:07] No, this is very true.

[00:03:08] Yeah.

[00:03:09] We're, uh, let's not, uh, mistake ourselves for Chris Harris and friends who incidentally

[00:03:14] I was listening to last week and they mentioned the Citroen BX.

[00:03:17] So, uh.

[00:03:18] Did they?

[00:03:18] Get that in there.

[00:03:20] Yep.

[00:03:21] They had to pick a French car under seven and a half thousand pounds or under 8,000 pounds.

[00:03:27] I think two of them picked the BX GTI.

[00:03:29] Oh, lovely.

[00:03:30] So, uh, yeah, lovely to hear some praise for the, uh, the August.

[00:03:34] So yeah, we'll get a social post out for that.

[00:03:36] I will also update.

[00:03:38] We'll be there on the Saturday and the Sunday.

[00:03:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:03:40] You'll be able to see us perform in inverted commas Saturday at two o'clock, Sunday at

[00:03:46] five past 11.

[00:03:47] Very specific five past 11.

[00:03:49] Yeah.

[00:03:49] It's like a train time, isn't it?

[00:03:51] Yeah.

[00:03:52] The five past 11 from the NEC.

[00:03:56] There's also a strong potential of some additional appearances on the Sunday if they haven't

[00:04:01] filled all the slots.

[00:04:01] So, um, we've kind of put our hands up for that.

[00:04:04] Yeah.

[00:04:04] Why not?

[00:04:05] Which could be a bit of a laugh.

[00:04:06] Potentially, um, either get some audience participation or we'll rope some more, uh,

[00:04:11] people from the show into it.

[00:04:13] Yeah.

[00:04:13] I suppose it's that time of the weekend, isn't it?

[00:04:15] Where some people are kind of sloping off, but then again, we might be lucky enough to

[00:04:19] catch some, uh, interesting people.

[00:04:21] Yeah.

[00:04:22] Well, if we can find someone having a nap in their car, tap on the old Cortina window,

[00:04:26] mate, and get them involved.

[00:04:28] We've also, for a, uh, healthy two pounds off your ticket.

[00:04:32] Oh, I saw that.

[00:04:32] You can use the code MYDADSCAR3.

[00:04:35] Yeah.

[00:04:36] Uh, possibly in capitals.

[00:04:37] I'm not a hundred percent sure on the, uh, logistics of that, but, um.

[00:04:41] I think it's full uppercase.

[00:04:43] Yeah.

[00:04:43] Um, two pound off an adult day ticket when booked in advance.

[00:04:48] Yeah.

[00:04:48] That'll get you a half a coffee, won't it?

[00:04:50] Probably.

[00:04:50] Yeah.

[00:04:51] That money saved, yeah.

[00:04:52] Buy a couple of adult tickets.

[00:04:54] You can have yourself a flapjack.

[00:04:55] The threat of a coffee bean.

[00:04:56] You might just get the smell of it for that.

[00:04:59] You have a serviette with your burger.

[00:05:01] Yeah.

[00:05:02] So, yeah, that is the NEC, which is coming up soon.

[00:05:05] And, um, we'll put details to, uh, ticket booking and stuff in the, uh, episode description

[00:05:10] below and, uh, have a look for that.

[00:05:12] Absolutely.

[00:05:13] Yeah.

[00:05:13] Cool.

[00:05:14] Okay.

[00:05:15] That's about as efficient as we get.

[00:05:17] All right, mate.

[00:05:18] Have a good one.

[00:05:18] See you soon.

[00:05:19] You too.

[00:05:20] Yeah.

[00:05:20] Take it easy, mate.

[00:05:21] Roll the credits.

[00:05:23] Thank you for listening to My Dance Cart.

[00:05:27] I hope you enjoyed the show.
